According to UNHCR, in mid-2015, there were 428,397 refugees, mostly from DRC, South Sudan and Somalia, and 38,068 asylum seekers residing in Uganda. Nearly two thirds arrived within the previous five years in successive waves following periods of conflict and insecurity in the respective countries of origin.

There were 7,185 refugees and 6,123 asylum seekers originating from Uganda. UNHCR did not recognize any IDPs.

Remittance inflow: USD $1,075 million estimated for 2015, up from $887 million in 2014. Remittance outflow: $289 million in 2014, down from $371 million in 2013.
