In mid-2015, there were 159,014 refugees and 1,150 asylum seekers residing in Tanzania. Most were from DRC and Burundi. UNHCR announced in March 2016 that 131,834 refugees from Burundi came to Tanzania in the past year, with more than 1,000 arriving weekly.

There were 859 refugees and 1,395 asylum seekers originating from Tanzania in mid-2015.

Remittance inflow: USD $389 million estimated for 2015, the same as in 2014. Remittance outflow: $98 million in 2014, down from $130 million in 2013.
