In mid-2015, there were 217,360 refugees and 24,157 asylum seekers originating from Burundi, and 78,948 IDPs. UNHCR announced that the number of Burundian refugees surpassed 250,000 in March 2016. Average weekly arrivals: 1,000+ in Tanzania, 500+ in Uganda, 230+ in Rwanda and 200+ in DRC.

According to UNHCR, Burundi hosted 54,126 refugees in mid-2015, nearly all of whom were from DRC, and 2,733 asylum seekers.

Remittance inflow: USD $49 million estimated for 2015, steady since 2013. 1.6% of GDP in 2014. Remittance outflow: $7 million in 2013, up from $5 million in 2012.
