According to UNHCR in Mid-2015 there were, 5,622 refugees and 14, 825 asylum seekers in Mozambique.

In early 2016, there were ca. 10 000 refugees from Mozambique fleeing violence and conflict to Kapise camp in Malawi. In 2016, there were 61, 000 new internal displacements due to natural disasters.

Remittance inflow: USD $ 184 is estimated in 2016, down from USD $ 196 million in 2015 but up from USD $ 155 in 2014. 1,3 % of GDP in 2015. Remittance outflow: USD $ 192 million in 2015, down from USD $ 194 million in 2014.
